History
The Texas and Pacific Railway reached Baird in 1880 and made it a division point, and the present two-story brick depot was built in 1911 to replace an earlier frame station. Designed in the Prairie style, it features a decorative belt course, overhanging eaves, a low-pitched roof, and an unusual Flemish-style parapet. The railroad discontinued use of the building in 1977, and it now serves as a visitor center and transportation museum.
