History

Baird's two-story brick Texas & Pacific passenger depot was built in 1911, replacing an 1905 frame station, and is one of the few two-story railroad depots in Texas, distinguished by an unusual Flemish-style parapet. The railroad discontinued use of the building in 1977. Restored, it now houses the Baird T&P Depot and Transportation Museum along with the local chamber of commerce, chronicling transportation in Callahan County from cattle trails to the railroad and highway.
