History

Dennis Cemetery lies in the far northeastern corner of Callahan County near Moran and was the main burial ground for Moran in the 1880s before that town opened its own cemetery. Its oldest legible graves belong to Albert W. and Charnell Dennis, both of whom died in 1880, and the Dennis family, for whom the cemetery is named, occupies many of the earliest plots. Local tradition holds that a small community called Dennisville existed nearby in the 1870s.
