History
The white frame 'Square House' in Panhandle was built in the late 1880s as a residence for a Southern Kansas Railway representative, using lumber shipped in from Kansas, and is the oldest house in the city. It remained a private home until 1965, when it was moved to its present site and restored as a museum. Named a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1966 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, it anchors a complex of exhibits on Carson County history.
