History

Whon Cemetery in southern Coleman County dates to 1905, when it began with the burial of young Lillian Ruth McCain, who drowned in a stock tank. It served the community of Whon, which once supported two grocery stores, a gas station, a cotton gin, and a post office, and it is now recognized as a Historic Texas Cemetery.
