History

The National Videogame Museum was founded by video game historians and collectors John Hardie, Sean Kelly, and Joe Santulli, whose combined collections toured for years as the traveling Videogame History Museum. After a 2011 Kickstarter and a 2014 vote by the Frisco Community Development Corporation to bring it to town, the 10,400-square-foot museum opened in April 2016 in the Frisco Discovery Center. It is the only U.S. museum devoted solely to the video game industry.
