History
The National Soccer Hall of Fame was founded in 1950 by the Philadelphia Old-Timers Association and first opened a museum in Oneonta, New York, in 1999. After that facility closed, a new hall was announced in 2015 for Toyota Stadium in Frisco, home of MLS club FC Dallas, making it the first major sports hall of fame built into a stadium. The 19,350-square-foot museum opened during the enshrinement ceremony on October 20, 2018, using virtual reality and interactive technology to honor American soccer.
