History

Cheetham Cemetery is the chief surviving trace of Cheetham, a Colorado County railroad community about a mile east of Sheridan that by 1914 had some 75 residents, a general store, and Baptist and Methodist Episcopal churches. The town lost its post office in 1920 and faded thereafter, and by 1981 little but the cemetery remained. Its earliest recorded burial dates to 1877.
