History
The Lindheimer House in New Braunfels is a timber-framed, stucco-over-fachwerk saltbox built in 1852 by Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer, the German immigrant botanist often called the 'father of Texas botany.' From 1853 Lindheimer edited the Neu-Braunfelser Zeitung newspaper from a print shop at the rear of the house for some two decades. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, the house is now a museum operated by the New Braunfels Conservation Society.
