History

Turkey Creek Cemetery is a remnant of an early settlement in north-central Comanche County, southeast of Duster near the crossing of FM 2247 and County Road 162, along the South Turkey branch. Turkey Creek forms from the confluence of North and South Turkey creeks and runs to the Sabana River southwest of De Leon. The burial ground holds graves of area pioneer families dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s, all that remains of the community once gathered here.
