History

The Dallas National Bank Building rose in 1927 at 1530 Main Street as a Gothic-detailed high-rise in the downtown Main Street District. Along with the nearby Kirby Building it is one of the city's two Gothic-style skyscrapers, and it was later known as the SPG Building. Listed on the National Register in 2005, it was rehabilitated into the four-star Joule Hotel, whose cantilevered tenth-floor swimming pool projects out over the sidewalk below.
