History
Built of native gray stone in 1892-93 by contractor E. L. Aiken and master mason Pat Cornett, this Romanesque Revival courthouse is the only one Dickens County has ever had and was among the first public buildings in the region of West Texas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and State Antiquities Landmark.
