History
Southwest of present-day Spur, this Dickens County burial ground began in May 1886 with the grave of a Mr. Barger, followed months later by that of his wife. Originally called Tap Cemetery, it became known as Red Top around 1910 for a nearby red-roofed schoolhouse, then Red Mud for the adjacent Little Red Mud Creek. Early acreage was donated by the Martin, Sparks, and Hinson families.
