History
The Duval County Historical Museum is housed in a 1912 building donated to the county in 1986 and interprets the heritage of early settlers in this deep South Texas county. Exhibits include the La Brasada Room on ranching heritage, with centuries-old ranchos, brands, and land grants; a baseball display honoring San Diego native Adolfo Arguijo; and church records of births, baptisms, marriages, and deaths from Mexican communities dating to the 1700s. In 2022 the museum received a Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission.
