The Popular Department Store building housed one of El Paso's best-known downtown retailers and is part of the group of commercial buildings tied to the architectural firm of Trost & Trost. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 24, 1980 under the 'Commercial Structures of El Paso by Henry C. Trost' thematic nomination.
