History
The Telfair House at 209 N. Preston Street in Ennis is a 1902 Victorian-style residence built by John Spier Telfair and designed by architect Hix McCanless. Telfair worked as a railroad conductor on the Houston and Texas Central line beginning in the 1890s, and the home is associated with his family. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 as part of the 'Historic Resources of Ennis, Texas' multiple-resource nomination.
