History
The Raphael House at 500 West Ennis Avenue is a Neoclassical/Classical Revival brick residence built for Edmond Raphael (1865–1927), a Jewish merchant, civic leader, and president of Ennis's First National Bank in the 1910s and 1920s. Houston cotton buyer William Weatherford purchased the home in 1924 and lived there until 1954. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, it later operated as a bed-and-breakfast and event venue and remains one of Ennis's landmark historic homes.
