History
Jacob Castleman (1815-1868) was a soldier in the Texas War for Independence who, while ill, was detailed to help guard the baggage train opposite Harrisburg during the San Jacinto campaign of 1836. He married Sophronia Harrell Lyons, and the couple is buried in the Castleman family ground just east of Flatonia, where the state placed a marker in 1962.
