History
Mitchell A. Putman (born 1794) was wounded at the Battle of San Jacinto while serving under Sam Houston in Captain Heard's company in 1836. He afterward settled in the Gonzales County area and received land grants for his service and his injury. He is buried in the Putman family cemetery near Wrightsboro, where the State of Texas placed a marker in 1962.
