History

Denton Creek Cemetery serves the rural Denton Creek area between Gonzales and Waelder in the northeastern part of the county. The creek that gives the community and cemetery their name was itself named for Abraham Denton, one of Green DeWitt's colonists, who acquired a quarter league of land in the vicinity. The cemetery holds several hundred burials from the surrounding farming community.
