History

Walker Cemetery is a small, historic African American burial ground east of the city of Gonzales, on land that was formerly part of the Emma Walker Estate. Reached at the end of an old dirt road in the woods, it is one of the county's neglected historic cemeteries; as of 2013 it had fallen into poor condition and was no longer being maintained. It stands as a reminder of the Black farming families who lived in the area east of Gonzales.
