History

Collinsville Cemetery is the principal burial ground of Collinsville in southern Grayson County. The community was first settled by Anglo-Americans in the late 1850s under the name Springville, on land donated by Joshua Miller, and later shifted to the Texas and Pacific railroad line built nearby in 1881. Residents voted to incorporate in the early 1890s and renamed the town for L. M. Collins, whose family had founded one of North Texas's early free schools. The cemetery contains roughly 3,000 recorded interments.
