History

Calvary Cemetery is Denison's Catholic burial ground, associated with St. Patrick Catholic Church and established in 1883, with the first burial recorded in July 1884. It is recognized by the Texas Historical Commission as Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Near its entrance stands a notable marble sculpture modeled on the famous "Angel of Grief," and the cemetery holds roughly 1,900 interments from Denison's Catholic community.
