History
The Lone Star Flight Museum began as a private collection of historic aircraft in 1985 and went on public display around 1990. Originally located in Galveston, it relocated to Houston's Ellington Airport after Hurricane Ike, opening a new $38 million facility on September 16, 2017, where it displays more than two dozen flyable historic aircraft. The museum houses the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, established by the 74th Texas Legislature in 1995 to honor aviators connected to Texas, from Howard Hughes to George H. W. Bush.
