David Grieves, a Scottish immigrant, served in Captain Henry Teal's company at the Battle of San Jacinto and died in Houston on June 15, 1837. His grave is among the pioneer burials marked with Texas Centennial monuments in Houston's Founders Memorial Cemetery.
