Jethro Russell Bancroft came to Texas in 1830 and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto in Captain Thomas H. McIntire's company; he died January 7, 1848. His grave is one of the pioneer burials marked with Texas Centennial monuments in Houston's Founders Memorial Cemetery.
