History

Rebecca Lamar was the mother of Mirabeau B. Lamar, second president of the Republic of Texas. Her grave is one of the pioneer burials in Houston's Founders Memorial Cemetery, the city's original 1836 City Cemetery, where the San Jacinto Centennial Association placed twenty-eight Texas Centennial monuments during the 1936 restoration.
