History

The 101 Ranch, begun in 1902, was the largest ranching operation in Hays County, running thousands of cattle, horses, and sheep across more than 11,000 acres of hill country between Buda and Kyle. After her husband died in 1905, Maggie Kuykendall ran the ranch with her daughter Dorothy Kuykendall Hoskins for some sixty years. The family mausoleum stands on the historic ranch land west of Buda.
