History

The Ireland Cemetery near Driftwood is a tiny private burial site holding the graves of five people — two adults and three children — on land in the Bear Creek area. There are no inscribed headstones; the graves are marked with rocks, one of which once bore the name "Ireland" scratched into it before it wore away. Two of those buried here, Clement Henson (1822–1876) and Albert Washington Heaton (1818–1888), were Confederate veterans.
