History

Lindley Cemetery lies in northwestern Hopkins County near the old Peerless community, where the Lindley family were among the earliest settlers after Eli Lindley moved to the area in 1842. John W. Lindley, born in Hopkins County in 1841 and long remembered as the county's oldest native-born citizen, spent his life in and around this Peerless neighborhood. Several members of the pioneering Lindley family rest here in unmarked graves, alongside other area families whose burials date to the 1800s.
