History

Wade Cemetery is a small family burial ground in northern Jim Wells County, sited beside the Casa Blanca Cemetery near County Road 303 East between Sandia and Pernitas Point. It holds graves of the Wade, Atkinson, Owens, and Dodson families; among its earliest interments is John Wade, born in 1822 at Ribston, Yorkshire, England, who died in 1898 in the community once known as Wades, Texas. Long overgrown, the grounds were transcribed by the Jim Wells County cemetery project in 2006.
