History

The Cleburne Railroad Museum opened in November 2016 and reopened after renovation in February 2022, holding more than 2,000 railroad artifacts in a 5,200-square-foot space overlooking Main Street. It tells Cleburne's story as a Santa Fe railroad town: the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe opened its Cleburne shops in 1898, one of the largest maintenance facilities in the Southwest and the city's largest employer until the shops closed in 1989.
