History

Goree Cemetery serves the town of Goree in Knox County, which was established in 1906 when the Wichita Valley Railroad built through the site and the town incorporated. Named, like the town, for Confederate veteran and county pioneer Robert D. Goree, the cemetery holds well over a thousand graves of area families.
