History

Coleman Cemetery, also known as the Shimek Cemetery, is a small family burial ground in the Ponton League about five miles north of Hallettsville, near where a Baptist church once stood. It holds only six markers, all bearing death dates from the 1880s. The oldest is for eighty-year-old W. R. Coleman, who died October 29, 1881.
