History

This is the Witting Cemetery, set behind the Evangelical Lutheran church in the German-settled community of Witting in western Lavaca County. The well-kept, fenced grounds hold more than 220 markers, the oldest for Hugo Wilhelm Pundt, who died September 12, 1882. The cemetery reflects the Lutheran farming community that grew up around the church and the Witting school.
