Badu Building

The Badu Building in Llano was designed by the firm Larramour and Watson and erected in 1890 by the Llano Improvement and Furnace Company as the home of the newly chartered First National Bank, built of local granite and locally made red brick. After the company failed, the building was sold in 1898 to mineralogist N. J. Badu, who leased the ground floor to a bank and used the upper floor as his family residence, and it remained in Badu family ownership for decades. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1981; it now operates as a restaurant and event space known as Badu 1891.
