History

Judea Cemetery lies a short distance north of Judea Church near Smithland in eastern Marion County. It is the burial ground of the African American Judea community, which supported a church and a school that taught eighty-six pupils in 1899 and remained a rural settlement of businesses, a sawmill, and scattered dwellings into the mid-20th century.
