History

This Kothmann family cemetery in Mason County holds graves of the Kothmanns, German immigrants who sailed to Indianola in 1845, were among the first families at Fredericksburg, and settled the Art area on a land grant in the 1850s. A Texas historical marker for the Kothmann Homesite and Cemetery commemorates the family's frontier settlement.
