History
The Midland County Historical Museum traces its origins to 1932, when county librarian Margarite Hester assembled a display of historic items in the basement of the county courthouse and rancher Porter Rankin contributed Native American relics and other objects. The museum moved to a downtown location at 200 North Main Street in 2019. It displays pioneer relics, ranching gear, war mementos, and a reproduction of 'Midland Man,' based on fossil remains discovered south of the city.
