History

Originally called Midway because it lay halfway between Rockdale and Cameron, this Milam County cemetery was formally established in October 1891 when land was donated for the purpose, though its earliest graves date to the mid-1880s. After the town of Minerva was founded in 1891 it became known as Minerva Cemetery, and the combined name now honors both communities. A cemetery association was organized in 2004 to maintain the roughly 525 graves.
