History

Roscoe Cemetery serves the railroad town of Roscoe, once known as Vista, in western Nolan County. Rancher and wheat grower W. J. Turner is credited with purchasing the site about 1887 to bury his brother-in-law, Joe Cleckler, and among the earliest recorded graves are infants Frank E. Spires (1892) and Ethel Lena Turner (1894). A state historical marker was placed at the cemetery in 1972.
