History
The Annie Riggs Hotel in Fort Stockton was built in 1899 as the Koehler Hotel, an example of West Texas territorial architecture in adobe with Victorian wood trim and a wraparound porch. Annie Frazier Johnson Riggs bought the building in 1904 and, as a widow raising ten children, ran it as the Riggs Hotel. In 1955 her heirs deeded the property to the Fort Stockton Historical Society, which opened it as the Annie Riggs Memorial Museum, today housing thirteen rooms of local history exhibits.
