History

Young's Store was opened in 1876 by F. W. 'Billy' Young at Fort Stockton, in a building that also housed an officers' club and quarters for the fort's laundresses. The Young family lived in and operated the general store and saloon, and Billy Young went on to found the Diamond Y Ranch and to serve as county surveyor, postmaster and, in 1880, Pecos County judge. The building stands on East Callaghan Street as part of the historic Fort Stockton driving tour.
