History

Cooper-Woods Cemetery is a small, remote burial ground in the southwestern quadrant of Red River County, set on a high knoll reached by rural roads southwest of Johntown. Only a couple of stones remain standing, though evidence suggests the site once held perhaps fifteen to twenty graves; just eight burials were documented when surveyors recorded the cemetery in the early 2000s. The Texas Historical Commission Atlas lists it under number 7387004505.
