History
This burial ground lies just east of the old Rosalie community in southwestern Red River County, about nine miles southwest of Clarksville, and is generally recorded as the Smith-Rosalie Cemetery. Rosalie, first known as Wayland, was a village of some 200 people by 1880 with stores, churches, a school, and a mill before it faded to near-ghost-town status. The oldest marked grave is that of Margaret Smith, who died in 1863; the Rosalie Cemetery Association, which unites the Smith and Hinson cemeteries, later organized the grounds, and about 562 burials had been documented by 2004.
