History

The "Mexican" Cemetery in southwestern Reeves County reflects the region's earliest settlement by farmers of Mexican descent, who irrigated crops from San Solomon Spring and were among the county's first settlers before Anglo-American arrivals around 1871. Segregated Hispanic burial grounds like this one held the workers and families who raised grain, cotton, and melons on area farms from the late 1800s into the early twentieth century.
