History
The Farmers and Mechanics National Bank building at 714 Main Street in Fort Worth was designed by Sanguinet and Staats in the Chicago style and completed in 1921 at a cost of $2 million. At twenty-four stories it was proclaimed the tallest building in the Southwest and remained Fort Worth's tallest until 1957. The bank merged with Fort Worth National Bank in 1927, and the building later served Continental Life Insurance; it now houses the Kimpton Harper Hotel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 4, 2012.
