History
Designed by Waco architect George Burnett, the 1915 Taylor County Courthouse in Abilene is a Classical Revival building ringed with tall Ionic columns and finished in brick, cast stone and terra cotta. Abilene's oldest and most intact governmental building, it served as the seat of county government until 1972. It was listed on the National Register in 1992 and underwent a full restoration completed in 2026.
