History

The Mulberry Creek Bridge is a wrought-iron Pratt bedstead pony truss built in 1888 by the Missouri Valley Bridge and Iron Works, originally spanning the West Navidad River before being moved in the 1920s to carry a road over Mulberry Creek. As an 1888 example it is exceptionally early for its type, since most bedstead trusses date after 1890, and it is regarded as the oldest known bridge of its kind surviving in Texas. It was listed on the National Register in 1975, relocated to Wolters Park in Schulenburg in 2001, and delisted in 2013.
