History

This site is the original Beaukiss Cemetery in eastern Williamson County, established for the farming community of Beaukiss, which was founded in 1880 by its first postmaster, Samuel M. Slaughter. When the community's cemetery was relocated, one grave remained at the old site: the Cocke family crypt. It survives as a remnant of a once-prosperous rural community that had dwindled to a handful of residents by the late 20th century.
